A summer snow storm brought as much as 8 inches of snow to parts of the Black Hills. Snowfall in downtown Rapid City marked the earliest such event since 1888; that was before South Dakota was even a state.

It's been 13 years since the United States came under attack by terrorists. And while time has moved on, the wounds can be just as raw as they were that Tuesday morning in 2001. Today the country, and even the world, pauses to remember those who died on September 11, 2001 and support those who live with the memories from 9/11.

Four planes, with different targets, were all that it took to change the face and mindset of America. Two crashed into, and destroyed the Twin Towers in New York City. One was brought down in a rural Pennsylvania field by passengers who would not allow it to attack Washington, D.C. The fourth struck and damaged the seat of our military, the Pentagon itself. The following photos from the 9/11 memorial at the Pentagon have no captions. They speak for themselves.
