GADSDEN, Ala. — An Alabama couple is facing aggravated child abuse charges after authorities said their baby suffered a broken wrist and 12 fractured ribs.
According to WBRC and WTVM, Etowah County sheriff’s deputies arrested Gadsden residents Kylar Markley, 22, and McKayla Allen, 19, on Sept. 3 in connection with the 2-month-old child’s injuries. They were released after posting a $50,000 bond each, the news outlets reported.
Authorities learned of the baby’s wounds in July after the infant stopped breathing and was taken to a Birmingham hospital, according to WBRC. Doctors believe that the rib fractures and wrist break, which was healing, “occurred on at least three different occasions,” WBRC reported.
