Chadwick Boseman’s brother reveals he’s in remission from cancer

The brother of “Black Panther” actor Chadwick Boseman revealed Tuesday that he is in remission from cancer.

Kevin Boseman, 48, recently shared via Instagram stories that this month makes two years since he has been cancer free.

Kevin Boseman, a professional dancer, didn’t share details about what type of cancer he was diagnosed with or the stage of the disease when it was discovered. He did say that he underwent four rounds of chemotherapy.

“I wanted to share because while it’s been a year of profound loss and tragedy for so many of us," he wrote. “This is good news. Something to smile about. Something to shout about.”

“Cancer is something most of us have no control over," he added. "We can only control our responses to it, which includes being proactive about our healthcare both physically and mental ... Tomorrow is not promised and early detection saves lives. Health is wealth -- true wealth.”

Chadwick Boseman died Aug. 28 at the age of 42. He had been privately battling colon cancer for four years and filmed a number of movies while undergoing treatments.

The late actor had no children and is survived by his wife, Simon Ledward, his parents, and two brothers, including Kevin Boseman and 54-year-old Derrick Boseman, who is a pastor in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Chadwick Boseman will appear posthumously in “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” which debuts Dec. 18 on Netflix.
