Commuter bus crash injures more than 20 people, 3 critically, in California

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Nearly two dozen people were injured Monday morning when a commuter bus clipped the driver of a parked tractor-trailer and overturned in El Segundo, California.

The truck driver was unloading equipment at around 8:20 a.m. local time when the bus struck him, injuring him critically, El Segundo Fire Chief Deena Lee told KTLA.

The driver of the Los Angeles Department of Transportation commuter bus carrying 20 passengers then lost control of the vehicle which overturned, sending at least 10 people to area hospitals for medical treatment, KABC-TV reported.

According to KTLA, three victims are listed in critical condition at area hospitals, two people were hospitalized with moderate injuries and 15 people suffered minor injuries, two of whom sought medical treatment.

The cause of the initial collision remained unclear Monday afternoon, KABC reported.
