Florida is One of the Best States to Live in America for 2026!

If you live in Florida and constantly complain about Florida, WalletHub basically just told us, “Okay… but it could be worse.” 😂

And apparently, despite the traffic, the humidity and the fact that our rent sometimes feels like a personal attack, Florida is still one of the best places to live in America.

WalletHub compared all 50 states across 51 different factors, including affordability, the economy, education and health, quality of life and safety. And Florida came in at No. 10 in the country.

Now before we start celebrating too hard, because our rent would like a word, Florida ranked 47th for housing costs. So yes, apparently living in paradise comes with a paradise tax. We also ranked 47th for the percentage of residents who are insured.

But Florida definitely had some wins. We ranked No. 3 for quality of life, No. 11 for safety and No. 3 in the country for income growth. And because we Floridians take eating very seriously, Florida also tied for No. 1 for the most restaurants per capita.

As for the states that beat us, Idaho took the No. 1 spot, followed by New Jersey, Wisconsin, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

So Florida may be expensive, but between the sunshine, cafecito, beaches and apparently endless restaurant options, we still cracked the Top 10.

Basically, WalletHub confirmed what Floridians already know: living here isn’t cheap, but leaving isn’t exactly on the vision board either.
