One homeowner decided she’d had enough of getting fined by her HOA over a dying bush, so she came up with a solution that was either genius or incredibly petty. Maybe both.
Instagram user @mommariss3x claimed her homeowners association kept hitting her with $45 fines because of the struggling bush outside her home.
So instead of replacing it, she grabbed a can of green spray paint.
“They keep charging me $45 for this bush, so we’re gonna fix it today,” she said before giving the plant a fresh coat of green.
After finishing the job, she admired her newly “healthy” landscaping and delivered perhaps the best line of the entire video: “It’s not dead no more, Becky.”
The video eventually made its way to X, where reposts racked up millions of views and sparked the internet’s favorite argument: Are HOAs useful or are they the absolute worst?
Some people applauded her creativity, while others pointed out the fairly obvious flaw in her master plan: she filmed herself doing it and then posted the evidence online.
It’s worth noting that the homeowner’s claims about receiving repeated $45 fines haven’t been independently verified.
But one thing can’t be disputed.
That bush is definitely green now.
