Shorty’s BBQ in Miami Announces Closing Date After 75 Years!

Well, Miami, this one hurts! Another piece of old Miami is saying goodbye, and this time, we have an official date.

Shorty’s BBQ, the iconic restaurant near Dadeland that’s been serving Miami since 1951, has confirmed that its original location will close on Sunday, December 27, 2026.

If you grew up in Miami, chances are you’ve eaten at Shorty’s at least once. Between the famous ribs, corn on the cob and those long wooden picnic tables, this place has been part of family traditions for generations.

So, why is it closing?

The property at 9200 S. Dixie Highway was sold to developers in 2022, and the site is being redeveloped.

The good news? Shorty’s BBQ isn’t closing for good! Its West Miami and Davie locations will continue serving customers.

But if you want one last meal at the original location, you’ve got until December 27.
