Was Ryan Lochte Robbed At Gunpoint In Rio?

Update Aug 14th @ 1:50P

Lochte confirmed to NBC News that he was held at gunpoint.

"We got pulled over, in the taxi, and these guys came out with a badge, a police badge, no lights, no nothing just a police badge and they pulled us over. They pulled out their guns, they told the other swimmers to get down on the ground — they got down on the ground. I refused, I was like we didn't do anything wrong, so — I'm not getting down on the ground," said Lochte. "And then the guy pulled out his gun, he cocked it, put it to my forehead and he said, "Get down," and I put my hands up, I was like 'whatever.' He took our money, he took my wallet — he left my cell phone, he left my credentials."

Ryan Lochte and several other swimmers were held up by robbers impersonating police officers. All the swimmers are unharmed.

"According to four members of the U.S. Olympic Swimming Team, they left France House early Sunday morning in a taxi headed for the Olympic Village," Patrick Sandusky, USOC spokesperson, said in a statement. "Their taxi was stopped by individuals posing as armed police officers who demanded the athletes' money and other personal belongings. All four athletes are safe and cooperating with authorities."

Yikes this is scary!

According to GossipCop,

"Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte was robbed in Rio at gunpoint early Sunday, according to his mother Ileana, but the swimmer’s coach and a spokesman for the International Olympic Committee are denying her claim. Lochte himself has not commented.

Ileana told USA Today that her son was held up with other Team USA members and "they're all shaken up." "There were a few of them," said the swimmer's mom, who added the group of thieves, who allegedly has guns and knives, "just took their wallets." Ileana noted that she was going to see her son later on Sunday.

But Lochte’s coach David Marsh said the Olympian “was not held up.” Additionally, a spokesman for the International Olympic Committee stated that any account of Lochete being robbed at gunpoint is 'absolutely not true.'"

We will keep you updated whether or not this really happened.
