Forget 10,000 Steps, You Might Just Need to Walk Faster
We’ve heard forever that 10,000 steps a day is the magic number, but it turns out how FAST you walk may matter just as much as how far you go.
Research found that people who walked around 90 to 100 steps per minute had a lower risk of early death, even if they weren’t hitting 10,000 steps every day.
The connection was especially noticeable among people walking fewer than 5,000 steps a day.
Researchers say this doesn’t prove that walking faster directly causes you to live longer, but it does suggest that picking up the pace could be an easy way to get more out of your daily walk.
So apparently my leisurely stroll while staring at my phone isn’t exactly what they had in mind.
Being a Slob Is Officially Fashionable
Finally, a fashion trend I have been preparing for my entire life.
One of the trends coming out of New York Fashion Week is called “analog dressing,” and the entire idea is to look like you didn’t try too hard.
Think wrinkled clothes, crooked buttons, shirts that look like they might be on backward and outfits that feel casually thrown together.
It’s basically fashion’s version of unplugging. After years of perfectly curated outfits designed for Instagram and social media, people are embracing clothes that look a little more spontaneous and imperfect.
So if anyone has ever judged what I wear to work, I would now like a formal apology.
I wasn’t lazy. I was ahead of the trend.
Olivia Rodrigo’s Dress Literally Melted Off Onstage
Olivia Rodrigo may have just raised the bar for concert costume changes.
During a show in Connecticut on Friday night, Rodrigo was performing when artificial rain started falling from above. That rain caused the white dress she was wearing to literally break apart while she continued singing.
Underneath was a red bodysuit and micro miniskirt.
And the whole thing was intentional. The transformation tied directly into the theme of her Unraveled Tour, making the dress actually “unravel” right there onstage.
Good luck topping that with a quick jacket change.
Nicole Scherzinger Performs After Getting Burned by Boiling Water
Nicole Scherzinger had a pretty rough start to her show in Amsterdam Saturday night.
About an hour before the performance, the former Pussycat Dolls singer was burned by boiling water, leaving blisters and dark marks on her leg.
And then she still went onstage and performed.
There are days when I stub my toe and briefly consider clearing my entire schedule, so Nicole and I are apparently built a little differently.
This Gymnast Is Trying to Make the Olympics at 51
The next time someone tells you that you’re too old to do something, tell them about Oksana Chusovitina.
The gymnast from Uzbekistan is attempting to qualify for the 2028 Olympics at 51 years old.
Chusovitina qualified for the vault final at the 2026 Asian Games this week, continuing a gymnastics career that has already spanned decades.
She won Olympic team gold all the way back at the 1992 Barcelona Games and later earned silver in vault at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
If she makes it to Los Angeles in 2028, it would be her ninth Olympic Games.
Meanwhile, I make a noise every time I stand up from the couch.
