Old School Airport Goodbyes Could Be Coming Back

Remember when you could walk someone all the way to their gate at the airport even if you weren’t flying?

It feels like a lifetime ago, because it basically was.

After 9/11, access beyond airport security became largely restricted to ticketed passengers. Now, the TSA is testing a program that brings back a little bit of the old airport experience.

Gateside by TSA PreCheck allows approved, non-ticketed visitors to pass through security at 13 participating airports.

You still have to go through TSA screening and apply for a Gateside pass one to three days ahead of your visit. But once approved, you can meet someone at their gate, see a loved one off or spend some extra time together before their flight.

Participating airports include LAX, Dallas Fort Worth, Las Vegas, Detroit, Indianapolis, San Diego and Salt Lake City.

No South Florida airports yet, unfortunately.

TSA says the program could be especially helpful for families traveling with children or elderly passengers.

Now bring this to Miami so my airport goodbye can once again be unnecessarily long and emotional.

Stevie Wonder Is Taking an Iconic Album Around the World

Stevie Wonder fans, rejoice!

The 76-year-old, 25-time Grammy winner is reportedly hitting the road for a world tour celebrating the 50th anniversary of Songs in the Key of Life.

And he’s not just playing a couple songs from it.

Wonder is expected to perform the entire iconic 1976 album at each show.

The tour kicks off October 13 with dates across the U.K. and Europe before eventually heading to the U.S.

Tickets go on sale tomorrow, but unfortunately, there’s no South Florida stop on the schedule right now.

Let’s hope that changes because Stevie Wonder performing Songs in the Key of Life from beginning to end might be the ultimate throwback date night.

Apparently It’s Already Halloween

It’s only September 9th and you can already smell Halloween in the air.

Or maybe that’s just the chocolate.

Shake Shack has unveiled a limited-edition Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Shake for Halloween that reportedly clocks in at a whopping 1,900 calories.

That’s basically an entire day’s worth of calories in one shake.

But Costco said, “Hold my cauldron.”

They’re selling a gigantic chocolate Frankenstein head weighing around five and a half pounds and stuffed with more than a pound of gummy candy.

It even comes with a little mallet so you can smash Frankenstein’s head open at your Halloween party.

It’ll cost you $55.

At that size, we’re no longer talking about candy. That’s a home decoration that you slowly eat.

Sherri Shepherd Is Heading to Broadway

When one door closes, apparently a genie bottle opens.

Sherri Shepherd may have had her talk show canceled, but she’s already got a pretty magical new gig lined up.

Shepherd has reportedly been cast as the first woman to play the Genie in Broadway’s Aladdin.

She’s done stand-up, movies, television and now she’s adding Broadway to the résumé.

Her run begins October 16th, so if you’re planning a fall trip to New York to see the leaves change, you can add a little Disney magic to the itinerary.

Talk about making wishes come true.
