Yes, Talking to Your Pet Like a Human Is Completely Normal
If you have full conversations with your dog or cat like they’re another human living in your house, congratulations: science says you’re perfectly normal.
Researchers at the University of Arizona found that pet owners spend about 10% of their talking time chatting with their pets.
And we’re not just saying, “Who’s a good boy?”
People give their pets nicknames, ask them questions, praise them and even share personal thoughts with them.
Researchers think those conversations and the bonds we create with our animals could help explain why having a pet seems to improve some people’s well-being more than others.
So continue telling your dog about what Linda did at work today.
They don’t understand.
But they’re listening.
Jeannie Is Fine, People!
Barbara Eden had to miss an appearance at the Cinecon Classic Film Festival this past weekend after dealing with side effects from medication.
The 95-year-old I Dream of Jeannie legend was supposed to receive a Legacy Award, which was accepted in her absence.
But Eden wants everybody to know she’s doing fine.
In fact, she’s apparently still open to acting gigs at 95.
I cannot tell you how badly I wish being a genie was an actual career option.
Put me in the bottle. I’ll come out for special occasions.
South Florida Has Officially Put Pumpkin Spice in Cuban Food
Welp. They’ve finally convinced the Cubans that pumpkin spice is mandatory once fall arrives.
Latin Café 2000, which has several South Florida locations, has rolled out its “Calabaza Calabaza” menu.
There are hot and iced pumpkin spice lattes and a Calabaza Calabaza Batido, which is essentially a pumpkin spice shake.
But the star might be the Arroz con Leche Calabaza Calabaza.
It’s traditional rice pudding mixed with homemade pumpkin purée, nutmeg, cinnamon and pumpkin spices.
And because this is South Florida, you can enjoy your fall pumpkin spice while it’s 87 degrees outside.
Ciara and Russell Wilson Need a Tie Breaker
Ciara and retired NFL star Russell Wilson already have a pretty full house.
And it’s getting fuller.
Ciara is reportedly expecting baby number five.
The couple currently has two boys and two girls, which means baby number five is officially the tie breaker.
And apparently raising five kids isn’t enough responsibility because Ciara and Russell are also part owners of the Seattle Sounders and are expected to have an ownership stake in a basketball team.
Five kids AND professional sports franchises?
I’m tired just reading their calendar.
South Florida Has a Real Life Game Show
Here’s a new place to take your relatives when they inevitably come visit South Florida for the holidays.
The Great Big Game Show is now open at Dania Pointe.
Think Wheel of Fortune meets Family Feud, throw in a little escape room, trivia, strategy, building challenges and some luck.
Basically, you actually get to become the game show contestant.
Which is perfect for everybody who sits on their couch watching game shows screaming, “HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW THAT?!”
Okay, genius.
Your turn.
Dyson Made a $500 Toothbrush Because Apparently Floss Wasn’t Complicated Enough
Dyson has unveiled a high-tech toothbrush called the CameraJet, and this thing sounds less like a toothbrush and more like something your dentist would use during surgery.
It reportedly has a built-in camera, AI and an automatic flossing system.
The camera takes images inside your mouth while you brush, AI identifies the gaps between your teeth and the device fires little blasts of mouth rinse to clean between them.
You can even watch a live video of the inside of your own mouth on an app.
The price?
$500.
A pack of dental floss is like three bucks.
Shake Shack Created an Entire Day of Calories in One Shake
Finally, Shake Shack looked at a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup and apparently thought, “How can we make this significantly less responsible?”
Enter its limited-edition Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Shake for Halloween.
The thing reportedly clocks in at around 1,900 calories.
That’s roughly an entire day’s worth of calories for some adults.
In. One. Shake.
At that point, don’t ask me if I want fries with it.
Ask me if I want a pillow and somewhere to lie down.
