Because apparently, living in Miami wasn’t expensive enough already!

Starting in January 2027, Miami-Dade County is increasing Metrobus and Metrorail fares for the first time in 13 years.

A one-way ride will jump from $2.25 to $2.75. Now, 50 cents might not seem like a big deal, but if you’re taking public transportation to and from work five days a week, that’s an extra $260 a year!

So, Why the Increase?

Miami-Dade officials say the fare hike will help bring in approximately $9.2 million and save 13 bus routes from being eliminated.

And for my Downtown Miami people who love the free Metromover, enjoy it while you can! County officials are considering a $1 fare, although nothing has been approved yet.

Free and discounted rides will still be available for eligible residents.

Between the cost of housing, groceries, and now getting to work, our wallets can’t seem to catch a break!

At this rate, even taking the bus is becoming a luxury in the 305!
