Weston’s Oldest Resident Celebrates an Incredible 105th Birthday

A South Florida woman just celebrated a milestone that deserves 105 candles on the cake.

Laura Del Valle Aponte turned 105 years old Friday, making her the oldest resident in Weston.

Family and friends gathered at Jubilee Assisted Living to celebrate the huge birthday surrounded by several generations of Aponte’s family.

Born in Puerto Rico in 1921, Aponte credits two things for helping her reach 105: her faith and home cooked meals.

Honestly, not a bad recipe for life.

The celebration became even more special when Aponte’s great-grandson was granted military leave so he could be there by her side for the big day.

At 105 years old, Aponte has lived through more than a century of history, and she got to celebrate her latest chapter surrounded by the people who matter most.
