Nina Sky

Identical twin sisters based in New York, Nina Sky make summery, party-friendly music blending R&B, house, pop, and reggaetón. They scored a major hit with their first single, "Move Ya Body," which appeared on their 2004 self-titled debut. A handful of mixtapes, a 2010 EP, and guest appearances on songs by N.O.R.E. and Major Lazer led up to the release of their second official album, 2012's Nicole and Natalie. They've since reappeared with singles like 2016's "Champion Lover" and 2025's "LA BUENA VIDA 2" (with Manu Manzo).

Identical twins Natalie and Nicole Albino were born in Puerto Rico but raised in the borough of Queens in New York City. They came up with the name Nina Sky by combining the first two letters of their first names for "Nina" and tacked "Sky" on the end to represent their shared aspirations. Their stepfather was a DJ and introduced the young girls to a variety of music. Singing was always important to them, eventually so important they announced their desire to become professional singers to their parents. With their parents' support, the girls auditioned for the production team the Jettsonz. Impressed, the Jettsonz introduced the girls to hip-hop producer Cipha Sounds. Sounds suggested the pair write a song to the dancehall reggae riddim "Coolie Skank." They wrote the party number "Move Ya Body" over the riddim, and when a demo reached Next Plateau/Universal, Nina Sky were quickly signed. Rhythm and urban radio stations were quick to add the song to their playlists and the twins got to work on their album. Their debut full-length, Nina Sky, hit stores in June of 2004. They also guested on "Oye Mi Canto" by N.O.R.E., which reached number 12 in the U.S. and was certified gold.

Following the album's release, the duo released the independent mixtape La Conexión (2005), which celebrated their Latin roots and included guests such as Ivy Queen, Pitbull, and B-Real from Cypress Hill. They recorded additional songs with N.O.R.E., and issued another mixtape, 80's Babies, in 2006. In 2007, the group split with Universal and signed with the Polo Grounds label, then the singles "On Some Bulls**t" and "Curtain Call" with Rick Ross were issued in 2008. An appearance on the Major Lazer album Guns Don't Kill People...Lazers Do followed in 2009, but there was still no second album, so the group split with Polo Grounds and went indie. They issued the 2010 EP The Other Side on their own, along with the 2012 album Nicole and Natalie, which featured the single "Starting Today," co-written by Bruno Mars. Nicole released a solo mixtape, Currently Vol. 1, in 2014, and the duo's electropop single "Forever" appeared in 2015.

In 2016 they signed with Tommy Boy Records and issued the single "Champion Lover." A cover of Usher's "Nice & Slow" appeared in 2017, followed by the reggaetón-influenced "No Passion" (with Los Rakas) in 2019.
