“It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that we have lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy,” Spears said on the social media platform.

Forty-year-old Spears and her partner, Sam Asghari, had announced on April 11 that they were expecting their first child together.

“This is a devastating time for any parent,” the post said. “Perhaps we should have waited to announce until we were further along however we were overly excited to share the good news.

“Our love for each other is our strength,” the post concluded. “We will continue trying to expand our beautiful family.”

In 2021, a judge ruled in favor of ending the conservatorship that has controlled Spears’ finances and life for more than 13 years. Before she was freed from the conservatorship, she had testified in a hearing that she had been kept from having an intrauterine device for birth control removed. She also testified that she had been denied the right to get married or have another child, according to The Associated Press.

Spears shares two sons – 16-year-old Sean Preston Federline and 15-year-old Jayden James Federline – with ex-husband Kevin Federline.
