Coronavirus: The Lacs’ Clay Sharpe hospitalized with COVID-19, pneumonia

Clay Sharpe of Georgia country-rap duo the Lacs has been hospitalized with the novel coronavirus and pneumonia, according to statements shared on the Lacs' official Facebook page.

"As of Thursday, June 25, Clay tested positive for COVID-19, and penumonia, and is currently in the ICU at a local hospital receiving treatment," read one statement posted Saturday. "Everyone please stay safe out there, and let's all say a little prayer for our boy."

In an update shared Sunday, the duo said Sharpe's condition was improving.

"Clay's fever is finally under control, and he is breathing better but still on oxygen," the post read. "He's out of bed and able to move around a bit, which is very promising. Clay is sincerely grateful for all of the overwhelming support and concern, and thanks each and every one of you for the thoughts and prayers. We will keep all of you updated as new information becomes available. Thank you all!"

Sharpe, aka "Uncle Snap," and Brian "Rooster" King formed the Lacs in 2002. The duo from Baxley, Georgia, are known for their hits "Keep It Redneck," "Outlaw in Me," "Dirt Road Dollars" and "Kickin' Up Mud."
