The Everett Police Department posted a photo of the suspect on its Facebook page, saying that the man went up to the lemonade stand run by an 11-year-old named Jeremy.

Officers said that the man offered Jeremy a $100 bill for some lemonade but requested exact change. Jeremy used all his allowance money to give the man $85 in change, KIRO reported.

Police said that when the man left, Jeremy took the bill to the gas station, where he learned it was fake, and he had lost all his money.

In its post, the police department said, “While our detectives work hard to bring closure to every case, this case struck a particular chord with them, and they want to do everything they can to get justice for Jeremy and catch this counterfeiter.”

One of Jeremy’s neighbors started a GoFundMe, with the goal of giving him more money “to possibly expand his enterprise.” The organizer said Jeremy plans to be open for business again this weekend.
