MEET JOWHARAH SANDERS...

Children's Advocate, Bullying Prevention Expert, and Founder of a nationally recognized bullying and suicide prevention organization, National Voices for Equality, Education and Enlightenment (NVEEE). Jowharah Sanders has dedicated the past decade of her life to mentoring youth and families impacted by bullying and suicide ideation. NVEEE has been featured on major news outlets, a recipient of countless awards, and has been entered into multiple U.S Congressional Records for their work in the community around bullying prevention and creating safer schools. Recently, students that participate in NVEEE's programs were featured on TLC's I Am Jazz, alongside Jazz Jennings and Jowharah Sanders.

As a bullying survivor herself, Jowharah’s vision and drive launched the first of its kind community organization aimed at preventing bullying, suicide and school violence through direct service mentoring and prevention education; National Voices for Equality, Education and Enlightenment (NVEEE). The organization, now in its 10th year of operation, is known for its unique summer program called the Peace Ambassador Leadership Summit (PALS), hosted on both campuses and in partnerships with the Honors College at Florida International University, and the University of Central Florida. PALS has an intensive focus on teens developing their leadership and communication skills, team building, and increasing their self-esteem. Students that attend create a brave space where they share their experiences, and in turn learn to become their own advocates and agents of change for others. It’s a successful program that turns bystanders into upstanders.

Jowharah’s passion and expertise are in connecting people to the difference they want to make. She is a visionary, and hardly ever thinks inside the box. Most recently she served as the Director of Donor Development for YES Institute, where she helped people make meaningful and powerful contributions with their money. The mission of YES Institute is to prevent suicide and ensure the healthy development of all youth through powerful communication and education on gender and orientation.

NOTE FROM KIMMYB:  It's been our pleasure and privilege to work closely with Jowharah and her NVEEE students and staff for the past few years.  To watch her in action, mentoring and uplifting our youth, providing them with a truly safe space where they can be themselves and embrace their uniqueness as well as that of their peers is inspiring on so many levels.  Jowharah pours herself into her work and into our community and we are grateful and honored to help share and highlight HERSTORY!
