Miami Just Hit 100 Degrees

South Florida is officially cooking. Miami hit 100 degrees Tuesday, a record-breaking temperature and the first time the city has reached triple digits since 1942. And the heat isn’t going anywhere just yet. Wednesday could bring another record if Miami reaches 97 degrees, with the heat index expected to climb to 105 degrees or higher. Thunderstorms could offer a little relief later in the afternoon.

Meghan Trainor Found a Sweet Way to Help Her Son With Separation Anxiety

Meghan Trainor’s 5-year-old son Riley has been dealing with separation anxiety, so Mom came up with a pretty adorable solution: a stuffed doll that looks just like her. Riley has been hugging and kissing his miniature “mama” when they’re apart, and Trainor says it seems to be helping. The singer has also been prioritizing time at home with her three children, saying she needs to be present for her growing family.

Shakira Is Helping Rebuild Schools in Colombia

Shakira is putting some serious money behind helping her home country. Her foundation is receiving $500,000, contributing to a reported $1.25 million effort to help rebuild schools damaged by the earthquake in Colombia’s Chocó region. Around 200 schools have reportedly been affected in one of the country’s poorest and most isolated regions, where getting aid to communities can be especially difficult.

Madonna Leads the 2026 VMA Nominations

The Queen of Pop is still doing Queen of Pop things. Madonna leads the 2026 MTV Video Music Award nominations with 11, followed closely by Taylor Swift with nine. The VMAs are scheduled to air live on September 27 on CBS and MTV.

Columbia House Is Finally Calling It Quits

Remember getting 12 albums for a penny? Columbia House, the mail-order music club that started back in 1955, is reportedly shutting down on September 15. The company survived the transition from records to cassettes, CDs, DVDs and Blu-rays, but modern technology appears to have finally won. Another piece of pre-streaming nostalgia is heading into the history books.
