Miami is one of the Best College Towns in America for 2027!

What you need to know about planning a VIP Miami weekend itinerary

Miami has been named one of the best college towns in America, but when it comes to affordability, that’s a whole different story!

WalletHub released its Best & Worst College Towns in America for 2027, and Miami came in at No. 19 overall and No. 9 among large college towns.

The study looked at everything from the cost of living and higher education to job opportunities and social life.

And speaking of social life, Miami ranked No. 5 in the country! Between our beaches, restaurants, nightlife and everything else there is to do, I don’t think anyone’s surprised by that one.

But here’s where things get interesting.

Miami ranked No. 177 for academic and economic opportunities and No. 243 for wallet friendliness. In other words, there’s plenty to do around here, but enjoying it on a college student’s budget? That’s another conversation!

Coral Gables also made the list, but not necessarily for the right reasons. Home to the University of Miami, the city ranked second highest in the country for the cost of higher education, coming in at No. 239 out of 240.

Meanwhile, Fort Lauderdale ranked No. 413 out of 415 cities for the number of college students per capita.

Elsewhere in Florida, Tampa ranked No. 4 among large college towns, followed by Orlando at No. 6.

So while South Florida has plenty to offer students outside the classroom, the cost of getting that college experience is definitely something to consider.
